The historic neighborhood fell into disrepute in the 80s and 90s as crime and poverty led to the flight of solid middle-class families, which in turn led to further crime and poverty; as the Post article notes, however, Anacostia is beginning its resurgence, anchored by decreasing crime levels and increased homeownership. Buyers with a long-term outlook who are looking for a good value inside the city limits may want to take another look at Anacostia.</p>
