Principals Only
Posted on November 30th, 2005 at 11:28 am by SwethA request from a home seller that they be contacted only by a Transaction Principal.
A “principals only” request is most commonly used in advertisements by FSBO sellers to indicate that they do not wish to be contacted by agents. Note that in most states, agents have a legal obligation to both protect the interests of and obey the instructions of their clients; even if the seller of a property has made such a “principals only” request, a buyer agent with clients who have expressed an interest in that property or a buyer agent who does not yet know enough about a property to conclude that their clients definitely won’t be interested in it is obligated to ignore the “principals only” request and contact the owner to gather more information on the property.
