Factory-built Home
Posted on December 8th, 2005 at 5:02 pm by SwethA factory-built home is one that is either entirely or mostly assembled in a factory, and then transported to their location of final use.
The two main categories of factory-built homes are mobile homes, which are capable of being transported to multiple locations as needed, and modular homes, which are usually permanently fixed in their first location of use. Both types of structures are also often referred to as manufactured homes or manufactured housing; in the US, however, those two terms technically refer only to a subset of mobile homes that conform to the HUD Manufactured Housing standards as set forth in the National Manufactured Housing Construction and Safety Standards Act of 1974.
