Curbside Recycling Resources or What!? My yogurt containers aren’t recyclable?
Posted on October 25th, 2005 at 1:09 pm by JustinHere’s what’s acceptable curbside at your house and what’s not.
Landfills have been filling up for a while but rarely does the subject get any press anymore, except maybe when poor states sell their space to wealthy states. Diverting some of this from the waste stream will make trucking garbage halfway down the eastern seaboard less common.
One thing will can all do is recycle at home as much as our local government will allow. Here are some resources by jurisdiction.
DC: Office of Recycling
MoCo: Division of Solid Waste Services
PG: Department of Environmental Resources
Alexandria City: Solid Waste Division
Arlington County: Department of Environmental Services
Falls Church City: Engineering Department
Fairfax City: Public Works
Fairfax County: Public Works and Utilities
Loudoun County: Office of Solid Waste Management
If you’re in a multi-unit building, slightly different guidelines may apply to you. Talk to the apartment management.
Statistics, background, and tons more information about Municipal Solid Waste can be found at the EPA website.
